Welcome to flanagan physiotherapy
I'm Ally Flanagan, an experienced physiotherapist practising in Aspley at Aspley Hypermarket Medical Centre. With over 20 years of clinical experience treating musculoskeletal injuries, I’m available to help people from Aspley, Albany Creek, Carseldine, Chermside, McDowall, Geebung and Brisbane's Northside recover from headaches, neck pain, back pain, sports injuries and work-related injuries. I work with people of all ages - from children recovering from sports injuries to older adults managing arthritis - focusing on practical, evidence-based care that restores function and relieves pain.

Why Choose physiotherapy
Physiotherapy doesn’t just treat symptoms — it identifies and addresses the underlying cause of pain, injury, or movement dysfunction.
At Flanagan Physiotherapy, I combine hands-on treatment with exercise rehabilitation, dry needling, education, and movement analysis to give you the tools to understand and manage your condition, not just temporarily relieve it.
The goal isn’t simply to “feel better today” — it’s to help you move better, recover properly, and get back to doing what matters to you.

Common conditions we see
Physiotherapy can help with a wide range of musculoskeletal injuries, pain conditions, and rehabilitation needs, including:
Headaches, Migraines, Neck pain and Stiffness
I have undertaken additional training in the Watson Headache® Approach and regularly treat cervicogenic headaches, tension headaches, menstrural migraines and neck-related migraines. Treatment focuses on identifying the source of your headache, desensitising the brainstem and improving neck movement.
Neck pain can develop after a sporting injury, prolonged desk work, poor posture, or a motor vehicle accident. I treat a wide range of neck conditions including muscle strains, facet joint pain, whiplash, concussion, cervical disc injuries, arthritis, nerve irritation and neck-related headaches.
Back and Spine
Back pain can occur suddenly after lifting, develop gradually through work or sport, or persist for months. I assess and treat a wide range of spinal conditions including acute and persistent low back pain, sciatica, lumbar disc injuries, nerve-related pain, facet joint pain, spinal arthritis and postural back pain. Treatment focuses on identifying the underlying cause of your symptoms, reducing pain, restoring movement and strength
Shoulder and Arm pain
Shoulder and arm pain can make everyday activities such as reaching overhead, lifting, sleeping or playing sport difficult. I assess and treat a wide range of conditions including rotator cuff injuries, shoulder impingement, bursitis, frozen shoulder, shoulder instability, tennis elbow, golfer's elbow, tendon injuries and nerve-related arm pain. Treatment focuses on identifying the underlying cause of your symptoms, reducing pain, restoring movement and strength
Hip and knee pain
Hip and knee pain can affect your ability to walk, climb stairs, exercise or enjoy everyday activities. I assess and treat a wide range of conditions including hip bursitis, gluteal tendinopathy, hip osteoarthritis, patellofemoral pain, knee osteoarthritis, ligament and meniscal injuries, tendinopathies and running-related injuries. Treatment focuses on identifying the underlying cause of your symptoms, reducing pain, improving strength and mobility.
Foot and Ankle pain
Foot and ankle pain can make walking, running and staying active uncomfortable. I assess and treat a wide range of conditions including plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinopathy, ankle sprains, heel pain, foot arthritis, tendon injuries and overuse injuries. Treatment also includes assessing your walking and running mechanics, footwear, strength and movement patterns to address contributing factors and help prevent recurrence.
Pre-and Post-operative Care
Preparing well before surgery and following a structured rehabilitation program afterwards can make a significant difference to your recovery. I provide personalised physiotherapy before and after orthopaedic surgery, with a particular focus on total knee replacement (TKR) and total hip replacement (THR) rehabilitation. Treatment aims to improve strength, mobility and confidence before surgery, then guide your recovery afterwards by restoring movement, rebuilding strength, improving balance and gait, managing swelling and helping you return safely to everyday activities, work and recreation. I also provide rehabilitation following arthroscopy, rotator cuff repair, ACL reconstruction, fracture fixation and other orthopaedic procedures.
Children and Adolescent Sports Injuries
Growing bodies are more susceptible to certain injuries, particularly during periods of rapid growth and increased sporting activity. I assess and treat a range of common growth-related conditions including Sever's disease (heel pain), Osgood-Schlatter disease (knee pain), patellofemoral pain, ankle sprains, muscle strains and overuse injuries. Treatment focuses on managing pain, improving flexibility and strength, modifying activity where needed, and helping young athletes return safely to sport while reducing the risk of recurrence.
